Insulation Madness
June 3, 2014
What an enormous job - I take my hat off to Charles getting up on that shaky scaffold and doing the roof insulation!
Krystin has also climbed up there and has done the high walls and some ceiling insulation too, plus lots of walls.
Definitely not something I would have been comfortable doing.
Our insulation is R4.1 plus we have R1.5 sarking... total of R5.6.... let it snow, we won't mind!
The plumbers have turned the outside into a maze of trenches, everytime you step outside you just about fall into one!
The best sight and sound so far was all that lovely rainwater filling our water tank finally! yay! The plumbers connected up the downpipes just before it rained.. :)
The nimble and flexible electricians are to be seen crawling around and through the timber framework, sliding, twisting and stretching and pulling wires every which way... looks like spaghetti hanging down from the rafters, glad they know what they are doing. The insulation fibres are driving them insane I'm sure!
The other day our front yard looked like a car lot. I have never seen so many cars parked there - the building inspector asked where the party was.... I wish!... not yet... still a ways to go!
Our massive front door/window frame finally got fixed and has been put in - what a saga that has been, and not to mention expensive as all hell! What can I say.... sh*t happens, just wish it didn't cost so much to repair.
Next big news was finally sourcing gyprockers.... they are as rare as hen's teeth in Jindaybne at the moment. The mountain lodge people can afford to pay the local guys spectacular rates just to get them to finish their lodges before the openning of the season - a week away now (only a dusting of snow as yet!). So mere mortals like us have to look further afield - we have gyprockers from Canberra... so that of course means providing accomodation as well, sigh!
Anyway, the gyprock has been delivered - a massive amount of course - probably another 3 weeks of work there.
Charles has been slogging away for over 2 weeks now, he's feeling very tired but he continues to soldier on - amazing effort, and all with staying in Sally Supreme as the temperatures are plummeting.
It's a long way to the top...
Meanwhile, up in the mezzanine

Not for the feint of heart
Last to leave..
