Where have you been, where are you going....
If you have ever lived abroad you will always be interested in the how and where of other people's experiences .
After having spent a short period of time in Guyana in South America and then a rather lengthy 8 and 1/2 years in France I have had many such experiences, both rich and rewarding as well as not so rewarding!
Starting a new adventure is always daunting. Quite often it means leaving familiar faces and places far behind. Repatriation was definitely a culture shock - from cosmopolitan Lyon to rural Jindabyne - chalk and cheese!

Sometimes the path we follow is just a natural progression in life, sometimes it's a desire for something new and fresh and, of course, sometimes we are just pushed onto a path that we just don't want to be following.
Maybe the kids have left and a decision is made to downsize or to move closer to them. Maybe you just don't always want to think "I should have tried that or done that, now it's too late"! Maybe your health or someone's health close to you has been dealt a blow.
The path you follow is sometimes overgrown and you need to hack your way through, sometimes it's a well worn path with the destination in plain view. Wherever that path leads you - follow your instincts as far as it is possible - that familiar thought "I should have known.." comes from there - our instincts serve us well.
